The story has been updated: ticket holders, in a wordcraft statement, will be able to attend the world series match and keep their timeless ticket for another match in the future.

There is no "I" in "Team".
There is also no "Team" in "Milwaukee Brewers".

Should it be acceptable to scam stupid people? That's sort of the impression I'm getting from your framing.

The idea I'm trying to convey is that this is no scam at all. People are crying "scam" for no reason. This consists of disgruntled fans who aren't satisfied with the quality of the seating that has been offered to them. They have indeed been offered seats for redeeming their "Timeless Tickets". That is the deal it says in the terms.
If these fans want absolutely the best seats that money can buy, they can pony up the $4,200 those seats are listed for. I don't believe that the Brewers are under any obligation to offer those to the Timeless Ticket-holders.
And, as I said, there are many investment strategies that may have garnered a better ROI than giving interest-free loans of $1,000 to the Brewers, 10 years ago. If that's how they wanted to spend their money, then that's fine. Perhaps their gullibility lay in the belief that they would have front-row dugout seats for that investment, redeemable at the snap of their fingers when the World Series was announced.
That being said, it's bad optics and bad PR for the team to treat their die-hard fans this way. Now that a stink has been made all over social media, people are seriously calling in the curse of the Brewers if they don't make it right. So, do they want to be cursed, or do they want to "make it right"? It looks like the ball is in their court, so to speak.
